Welcome to Bush Spring Shooting Club's web site. We are a licensed clay pigeon shooting club with a ground set in the heart of the English Countryside at Chickney Hall Farm, Essex, about 35 miles North East of Central London. We have a skeet range with a pleasant view over a valley but most shooters come for our 50 bird sporting over 5 stands with a different layout at every shoot. There are two copses, and a number of our stands are located in the trees. We present a wide variety of targets, including rabbits at various angles and lots of battues, but we take care to keep every bird within range.

We also have a DTL range though at many shoots we use this part of the ground for a 25 bird compact sporting layout.

We shoot every Saturday from 10 am until 1 pm, so you need to start your last round of sporting just after 12 noon or your last round of Compact, DTL or skeet by 12:30. You are most welcome to arrive before 10 am either to help setting up or to start the day with a cup of tea and a bacon roll. If you are on your own and would like to join a squad for sporting, compact or skeet then just ask when buying your card.

It’s membership renewal time and places are limited;
best “get in quick” with your £50.

Click here if you would like to see the BBC current weather report and 5 day forecast for our area, but be aware that we shoot under (almost) all conditions. Members are expected to hand in their cards from their first round of sporting at each shoot they attend, and these scores are included in the club averages. The individual scores that make up the average are typically for the past six or seven months.

There is no wad restriction on the ground but the maximum load is 28 grams and the maximum shot size is 6. You are unlikely to need anything larger than 7½ or 8 and we expect all shooters, including those with semi-autos, to put all their empty cartridge cases into the bins provided. We often squad sporting, giving shooters the time and stand number at which they must start their round.

We welcome feedback. Comments (and formal messages to the Executive Committee) should be sent c/o webmaster@bushspring.com but for more details about our club please come to a shoot and see for yourself. Alternatively contact Andy Taylor on (+44) 07950 311 675 or at secretary@bushspring.com
